Raven Banner has acquired the international distribution rights to the Pierce Berolzheimer-directed feature film Crabs!, as well as signing on as an executive production partner for the remainder of the nearly finished project.

The Toronto distributor first saw the Young Gunner Films’ project at the Frontieres International Work-In-Progress Market at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival. The deal for the U.S. film was later negotiated by Young Gunners’ Noah Lang and Evan Buxbaum and Raven Banner’s James Fler, Annick Mahnert and Michael Paszt.

The majority of the feature has already been shot, but Raven Banner will board the project in order to produce the remainder of the film, which has a couple of shooting days left, according to Raven Banner’s managing partner Michael Paszt. Discussions are ongoing as to whether the remaining scenes will be shot in Toronto or in the U.S. Prior to Raven Banner’s involvement, Crabs was shot in L.A.

Raven Banner’s other acquisitions this year include Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy’s The Editor and El Gigante from Luchagore Productions.
