The Boat Rocker-produced series American Rust will not be back for a third season, Playback has confirmed.
The journey for the premium crime drama starring Jeff Daniels has not been smooth. Originally airing on Showtime, it was cancelled after one season, but Boat Rocker found it a new home and a second season called American Rust: Broken Justice on Prime Video.
All 10 new episodes were made available on March 28, exclusively on the streaming platform in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Oscar-nominated Capote screenwriter Dan Futterman created American Rust, based on the Philipp Meyer novel of the same name. Daniels stars as a police chief in a small southwest Pennsylvania Rust Belt town, where the son of his love interest (Maura Tierney) is accused of murder.
Season two was executive produced by Daniels, Futterman, Paul Martino, Adam Rapp, Michael De Luca, Katie O’Connell Marsh for Boat Rocker, and Elisa Ellis.
American Rust: Broken Justice was produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker.
