The Reelworld Screen Institute has added a new program to its roster of screen industry initiatives to target the needs of up-and-coming directors.
The Directors Immersion Program, run in partnership with NBCUniversal, takes place over four months with four to six select participants and is aimed at creating opportunities for emerging directors.
The program consists of virtual and in-person training sessions and runs from August to November. The goal of the program is to help emerging directors gain directing credits for their resumes, to build relationships with industry professionals and learn how to navigate a career in the Canadian screen industry.
Participants will also take part in a designated Face2Face networking event to meet producers, showrunners and agents, as well as attend the 2024 Directors Guild of Canada Awards in October.
After the program is completed, the participants will be given a chance to apply to shoot content for Reelworld, including testimonials from other participants and stakeholders, covering the 2024 Reelworld Film Festival and Summit, and directing the Reelworld Awards presentation. The deadline to apply is July 22.
Applicants must be based in the Greater Toronto Area and be between the ages of 18 to 30, and include a reel of their work.
The Reelworld Screen Institute’s other initiatives include the Reelworld Producer Program and Reelworld Training Lab.
