Bell Media has unveiled some of the key programming coming to its rebranded channels in January, including several Canadian originals.
The rebranded channels, announced in October, include Oxygen True Crime, which is replacing Investigation Discovery, and USA Network, replacing the Discovery Channel. These changes will take place on Jan. 1, 2025, as Bell Media’s agreement with Discovery license-holder Warner Bros. Discovery ends and its new agreement with NBCUniversal takes effect.
On that same day Animal Planet will become CTV Wild, Discovery Science will become CTV Nature and Discovery Velocity will become CTV Speed.
Coming to Bell Media’s USA Network is the series premiere of Canadian original Rocky Mountain Wreckers (pictured) on Jan. 14 along with season 13 of Highway Thru Hell. Both series are produced by Vancouver-based Thunderbird Entertainment subsidiary Great Pacific Media.
For non-Canadian series, season one of The Anonymous (Studio Lambert) will begin airing on Jan. 6 along with the first season of The Race to Survive Alaska (Original Productions).
Beginning on Jan. 1, episodes from the U.S., U.K., New Zealand, Australia and Canada versions of the Traitors franchise will begin airing along with episodes of Suits (Universal Content Productions) starring Canadian-American actor Patrick J. Adams.
Other series airing on the network in the coming months include the crime procedural dramedy Good Cop/Bad Cop, The Rainmaker, Long Bright River, Debriefing the President and The Pitt.
Coming to Oxygen True Crime on Jan. 2 is the premiere of the Canadian original documentary Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot (Cream Productions). For returning Canadian series, season eight of Forensic Factor: A New Era (Attraction) will be premiering on Jan. 12 and episodes from Toronto-based Cream Productions’ Fear Thy Neighbour will be airing from Jan. 1.
For non-Canadian programming, season five of NBC’s Dateline: Unforgettable will begin airing on Jan. 16 and the second season of Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler (Magical Elves, Universal TV Alternative, Wolf Entertainment) begins on Jan. 27 along with the third season of New York Homicide (Good Caper Content).
Seasons 27 to 30 of Snapped (Jupiter Entertainment) will begin airing on Jan. 1 along with past episodes of NBC’s Dateline.
Additional series without air dates coming to Oxygen True Crime include seasons one and two of Deadly Cults; Floribama Murders; seasons one and two of The Real Murders of Atlanta; seasons one to three of Accident, Suicide or Murder; seasons one to three of Killer Relationship with Faith Jenkins; season 17 of Snapped: Killer Couples; and Snapped: Behind Bars season one.
Coming to CTV Wild is the new Canadian original My Pet Ate What?! (Tyson Media Productions) and the returning Canadian series Pets & Pickers (Tyson Media Productions) and Cold Water Cowboys (Paperny Entertainment). Premiere dates will be announced at a later time.
Other programming includes Animal Planet’s Yellowstone Wardens and Wardens of the North.
For CTV Nature, the Canadian series How It’s Made (Productions MAJ) will be featured along with Aussie Gold Hunters (Electric Pictures), BattleBots (Whalerock Industries, BattleBots Productions) and I Survived Bear Grylls (Bunim/Murray Productions, The Natural Studios).
For CTV Speed, Canadian originals Bush Wreck Rescue (Omnifilm Entertainment), Last Stop Garage (Proper Television), Tougher Than it Looks (Factual Entertainment) and Discovery’s Monster Garage will be part of the programming.
