Family Channel has acquired the Canada/Spain copro SuperKlaus in both episodic and feature formats.
The film has been available via Family OnDemand since Nov. 15. The first two episodes will air Nov. 29 on Family Channel, followed by the last two on Dec 6. Then the full film will air Dec. 7.
SuperKlaus marks the first major animated feature from Matane, Que.-based PVP Media, coproduced with the Spanish studios 3Doubles Producciones, Capitán Araña and Smartrek Films.
Directed by Steven Majaury, the film follows Santa Claus after he bumps his head and starts believing he’s a superhero. It has been sold to more than 40 territories via international distributor Pink Parrot Media, according to a news release.
The English-language cast includes Canadian actors Harland Williams, Colm Feore and Millie Davis. The film features two Christmas songs by Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan.
SuperKlaus was made with the participation of Radiotelevisión Española, Canal+, the Canary Islands’ public radio RTVC and Radio-Canada; and with the support of the Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute, the Government of the Canary Islands, Bell Fund, the Canada Media Fund, Quebecor Fund, Shaw Rocket Fund, the Bank of Spain’s CREA SGR and the Instituto de Crédito Oficial.
An immersive interactive environment related to the film will also be available on the Roblox platform soon, read the release.
Fubo, NBCUniversal
NBCUniversal is bringing six FAST channels to FuboTV in Canada.
Three Spanish-language channels are available now on Fubo’s sports, entertainment and premium channel plans: NBC News NOW, Noticias Telemundo Ahora and Telemundo al Dia.
English-language channels GolfPass, Dateline 24/7 and American Crimes will be added to all Canadian plans soon, according to a release.
“The addition of NBCU’s FAST channels underscores our commitment to bring Canadians the best one-stop viewing experience for premium streaming content,” said Ben Grad, Fubo’s SVP, strategic partnerships and operations in a statement.
ATN
Asian Television Network International (ATN) has acquired and renewed exclusive Canadian rights to New Zealand cricket for three years.
The network, billed as Canada’s largest South Asian broadcaster, has the rights to all home and international games, with more than 120 days of international cricket. All games will air on CBN and ATN Cricket Plus.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering world-class sports entertainment to fans across Canada,” said Dr. Shan Chandrasekar, ATN president and CEO, in a statement.
Telus, Hayu
New and existing Telus and Koodo customers outside of Quebec can now get Hayu as a standalone subscription for $6.99 monthly.
Hayu, owned by NBCUniversal, offers more than 300 reality TV series including the Real Housewives and Below Deck franchises.
Customers are also able to add Hayu to the Stream+ bundle for 15% off of their Hayu subscription. Stream+ gives Telus and Koodo customers access to Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime as well as Telus films and series.
