Boat Rocker has commissioned two new unscripted series as part of a deal with Toronto’s Shark Teeth Films.
The new orders include the 10 x 60-minutes series Discovered by Disaster and Secrets in the Dark.
Discovered by Disaster uses CGI, archive footage and expert interviews to examine hidden secrets — from medieval skeletons to Mayan hieroglyphics and sunken shipwrecks to lost cities — which have been revealed by extreme weather incidents. It is expected to be delivered this fall. Secrets in the Dark shines a light on unusual discoveries made in some of the darkest places on Earth, and will be delivered in spring 2025.
Secrets in the Ice (10 x 60 minutes; pictured), meanwhile, has been greenlit for a fourth season. It is currently in production for release this fall, according to a news release.
The factual series looks at mysteries which have been frozen in time. It has been sold in more than 50 territories to a host of broadcasters, including History in the U.K./Ireland, Benelux, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and South Africa; Seven One in Germany; Super Channel and Blue Ant Media in Canada; Canal D in French Canada; and National Geographic in Asia.
Boat Rocker is in advanced negotiations with European broadcasters for presales for all three series, said the release.
“The team at Shark Teeth Films have an amazing antenna for finding the most extraordinary stories in the most remote and inhospitable places on Earth,” said Natalie Vinet, SVP global distribution at Boat Rocker Studios, in a statement.
Boat Rocker’s unscripted portfolio includes Mary Makes It Easy, How I Got Here, Cross Country Cake Off, The Truth About My Murder, and the upcoming feature documentary War Game.
