Canadian sci-fi film Code 8 Part II has surged to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 Films in Canada and the U.S. following its debut.
The Code 8 sequel starring Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell premiered globally on the streamer on Wednesday (Feb. 28). It holds the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Canadian and U.S. film charts.
The original film is also seeing renewed interest, holding the No. 3 spot in Canada and at No. 5 in the U.S.
Code 8 Part II is directed by Jeff Chan, who also co-wrote and produced the film under the banner Collective Pictures. Fellow producer Chris Paré is a co-writer alongside Sherren Lee and Jesse Lavercombe.
Robbie and Stephen Amell are also producers on the film, in addition to Steven Hoban and Matthew Kariatsumari. Executive producers include Mark Smith, Brian Huynh, Nate Bolotin, Wade Odlum and Aaron Barnett.
Code 8 Part II takes place after the events of the original, and is set in a world where people with superhuman powers are marginalized in society. The cast includes Alex Mallari Jr., Sirena Gulamgaus, Aaron Abrams and Jean Yoon.
