Prime Video has greenlit a Canadian take on its Luxe Listings format, produced by Scott McGillivray’s Toronto-based prodco McGillivray Entertainment Media (MEM).
MEM’s Angela Jennings, Nanci Maclean and McGillivray are executive producers on Luxe Listings Toronto. Production began Monday (May 15) and is slated to wrap late summer, a publicist for the series tells Playback Daily.
In addition to launching globally on Prime Video, Luxe Listings Toronto will be “exclusively available” on ad-supported VOD platform Amazon Freevee in the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Austria, according to a news release.
The new docu-reality series is based on the format originated by Australian Amazon original Luxe Listings Sydney. It will give viewers an inside look into Toronto’s real estate market, “showcasing high-stakes multimillion-dollar listings through the lives of Canada’s top real estate agents,” said the release.
Its debut season will feature real estate agents Peter and Paige Torkan, founders of Team Torkan, and Brett Starke, the founder of The Starke Group.
Luxe Listings Toronto will also be featured during a panel at the Banff World Media Festival, where McGillivray and CJ Yu, head of unscripted development, global formats, Amazon Studios, will discuss “trends and the evolution of the home renovation and real estate genre.”
Brent Haynes, head of local originals, Prime Video Canada, said in a statement that “Luxe Listings Toronto continues Prime Video’s investment in collaborating with Canadian producers.”
Prime Video’s unscripted content slate includes two additional seasons of LOL: Qui rira le dernier? (Attraction) and French-language culinary series Pendant ce temps en cuisine (Pixcom).
