Demand for Netflix’s Arcane rose sharply as the animated series closed out its second season in late November.
The series, based on the video game League of Legends, was 89.8 times more in demand than the average TV show in Canada during the week of Nov. 18 to 24, according to Parrot Analytics. The week prior, the animated series held a demand average of 68.6. The last three episodes of Arcane’s second season were released on Nov. 23.
In the digital demand chart’s No. 2 spot, Cobra Kai saw a significant jump in demand, moving up from No. 5 the week before. The karate drama had a demand average of 37.9. In the No. 3 spot, Max’s The Penguin saw a decrease in demand, sliding down from No. 2 the previous week. The series based on the eponymous DC Comics character had a demand average of 32.8.
Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel, with a demand average of 30.1, and Max’s Dune: Prophecy, with a demand average of 27.5 round out the top five. Dune: Prophecy, a prequel series to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, debuted on the digital originals list after premiering on Nov. 17. It is available in Canada through Crave.
On the overall originals chart, Saturday Night Live was ousted from the No. 1 spot by Arcane. The weekly sketch comedy program had a demand average of 55.9, a sharp decrease from its average the previous week of 73. Sliding in at No. 3 is The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with a demand average of 39.7, followed by The Daily Show with a demand average of 38.2.
