The Roku Channel acquires U.S. rights to Jann

The deal gives The Roku Channel rights to all three seasons of the CTV original comedy.

CTV original comedy series Jann has moved to a new streaming home in the U.S. in a deal with The Roku Channel.

The ad-supported streamer has acquired all three seasons of the comedy (pictured) to stream in the U.S. as of Tuesday (Jan. 17). ITV Studios facilitated the sale, which will see Jann move from Hulu to The Roku Channel in the U.S., according to a spokesperson for the series. Hulu previously acquired the first and second seasons for the U.S.

The half-hour comedy is co-created by Jann Arden, who is also the lead in the series, showrunner Jennica Harper, and Leah Gauthier, who all serve as executive producers. It is co-developed by Bell Media and Toronto’s Project 10 Productions, and is produced in association with Project 10, and Calgary’s SEVEN24 Films.

Andrew Barnsley (Schitt’s Creek), Project 10 president Ben Murray, SEVEN24 Films’ Tom Cox and Jordy Randall (Heartland, Wynonna Earp), and Randy Lennox are also executive producers. Ron Murphy is the series director.

Jann follows a fictionalized version of Arden as she tries to rebuild her music career and personal life. The third season features cameos from Canadian musicians Michael Bublé, Tegan and Sara, and Bif Naked. The acquisition will also give U.S. audiences the “first opportunity” to watch the third season, according to a news release.

Since its debut in 2019, the series has won multiple accolades, including three Rosie Awards in 2022, a Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award for Best Comedy Series for Arden and Harper, as well as multiple Canadian Screen Award nominations.

The Roku Channel acquired the worldwide rights to the Canadian short-form series Tokens in December 2022.
