Wattpad Webtoon Studios to adapt Ariana Godoy’s webnovel

Sigue Mi Voz will be supported by the studios' international development fund and produced out of Spain.

Wattpad Webtoon Studios has set a film adaptation of Ariana Godoy’s (pictured) Spanish-language Wattpad webnovel Sigue Mi Voz.

The film will be produced out of Spain and supported by the studios’ international development fund, which is a $100 million commitment from its parent company Naver for development and production financing.

Sigue Mi Voz will be directed and written by Inés Pintor and Pablo Santidrián (El tiempo que te doy). Aron Levitz, David Madden and Lindsey Weems Ramey of Wattpad Webtoon Studios will serve as executive producers, while its director of international development and production, Bego Robles, will oversee the film’s development in Spain.

The story follows a woman who falls in love with a radio show host whom she’s never met after listening to him for 76 days straight in her home.

Billed as one of Wattpad’s most successful writers, Godoy’s webnovel has also been published by Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial. Her other credit includes A través de mi Ventana (Through My Window), which was adapted into a film by Netflix, Spain’s Nostromo Pictures, and Wattpad Webtoon Studios. It premiered on Netflix this past February, with the streamer greenlighting two sequel films two weeks after its initial release.

Ramey, head of global film for Wattpad Webtoon Studios, said in a statement that Godoy is “one of our most prolific creators and her body of work is as impressive and diverse as it is rich in beautiful storytelling,” adding that “Sigue Mi Voz‘s unique yet relatable storyline and dynamic characters made it an obvious choice for an adaptation.”

Other upcoming projects that have been selected for the Wattpad Webtoon Studios development fund include A. Rasen’s Gremoryland, which is being developed with Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment; Deanna Cameron’s What Happened That Night, which is being adapted by screenwriter David Arata; T.L. Bodine’s The Hound, which is being adapted by screenwriter Angela LaManna; Alex Mírez’s Perfectos Mentirosos; and Flor M. Salvador’s Boulevard.

The studios recently partnered with Nadie es Perfecto and The42Film to adapt Mala influencia.
