Hot Sheet: Netflix’s Arcane explodes in demand in Canada

Behind Arcane, Max's The Penguin and Netflix's Stranger Things rose in demand.

Netflix original Arcane has soared to the No. 1 spot on the Canadian digital demand chart in mid-November following its season two premiere.

The animated series, based on the video game League of Legends, was 68.6 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada from Nov. 11 to 17, according to Parrot Analytics. It landed at No. 2 on the overall originals chart. The first three episodes of the series’ second season released on Nov. 9 while the next three followed on Nov. 16.

In the No. 2 spot, Max’s The Penguin rose in popularity following its finale with a demand average of 39.2, a significant increase from 32.2 the week prior. At No. 3, demand for Netflix’s Stranger Things creeped up as well to 36.3.

Rounding out the top five is Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel with a demand average of 32.2 and Netflix’s Cobra Kai with a demand average of 30.9. The second part of the karate drama’s final season released on Nov. 15.

On the overall demand chart, Saturday Night Live was able to keep its No. 1 spot from Arcane with a demand average of 73. Yellowstone landed at No. 3 with a demand average of 40.9.
