Vancouver-based Omnifilm Entertainment has added two industry veterans to its executive team to expand its production capabilities.
The production company has named Nicole Shizuka Oguchi (pictured left) as head of physical production and IATSE Local 891 representative Phil Klapwyk (pictured right) as business development executive.
The new hires will help Omnifilm build its “physical production capacities” and “capitalize on a heightened value proposition that meets the demands of projects of any size and scope,” said Omnifilm partner Brian Hamilton in a statement.
Oguchi has worked as a producer for more than 20 years, including as a production supervisor and coordinator on big-budget features such as Steven Spielberg’s The BFG and Tim Burton’s Big Eyes. She recently served as a line producer on season three of Global series Family Law, produced by Lark Productions and SEVEN24 Films.
Klapwyk has served as the business representative for IATSE Local 891, which represents more than 9,000 film and TV technicians in B.C., for the last seven years. During that time he’s led collective bargaining on behalf of union members and developed strong relationships with industry, government and community stakeholders. He has worked as a gaffer on film crews since the mid-90s.
Omnifilm’s current production slate includes the factual series Bush Wreck Rescue, which was unveiled as an original title for Discovery Canada at Bell Media’s 2022 June upfront presentation.
