Knowledge Network commissions Omnifilm’s Transplant Stories

The four-part series follows the journeys of patients on the organ transplant waitlist in B.C.

Knowledge Network has commissioned the four-part documentary series Transplant Stories from the Vancouver-based prodco Omnifilm Entertainment.

The series follows the journeys of patients on the organ transplant waitlist in B.C., looking at the experiences of those who receive organ donations and the family members of donors. It includes rarely seen footage from operating rooms, according to a news release.

Transplant Stories will premiere on Knowledge Network’s linear channel on Nov. 19, and afterward will be available to stream on the B.C. public broadcaster’s website.

The docuseries is produced with funding from the Telus Fund, the Canada Media Fund, the Rogers Documentary Fund and the Rogers Telefund, as well as provincial and federal tax credits.

The series was made in partnership with three B.C. healthcare organizations: BC Transplant, a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority; Vancouver Coastal Health; and Providence Health Care.

“We all know or love someone who has been touched by the need for or the donation of an organ, and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to tell just a few of their stories,” said Omnifilm executive producer Cathy Schoch in a statement.
