Netflix’s hit sci-fi horror Stranger Things (141.12) peaked at an all-time high in demand from its second volume of season four.
The series — which stars Vancouver-born Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, and Winona Ryder, and includes Montreal-raised Shawn Levy as one of its showrunners and executive producers — led both the top 10 digital originals and overall TV shows charts. It was 141.12 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada, and in The Upside Down, for July 4 to 10, according to Parrot Analytics.
Two Toronto-shot series made a splash on both the top 10 digital originals and overall TV demand: Prime Video’s The Boys (34.36) came second on both the lists, while the Paramount+ series finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (26.24) was No. 3 on the digital chart and No. 4 on the overall TV chart.
Another Toronto-shot series, Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy (20.73), came in at No. 6, and Hulu Ontario-shot original The Handmaid’s Tale (17.66) was No. 9 on the digital originals list.
Rounding out the top five of the digital chart is Lucasfilms’ Obi-Wan Kenobi (33.54) at No. 4, followed by HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death (21).
In the overall TV series demand list, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants (30.05) ranked at No. 3, and NBC’s Saturday Night Live (26.08) at No. 5.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.
