Production on talent competition series Canada’s Got Talent is set to start in Niagara Falls with auditions set for Nov. 9 to 12, and Toronto-born comedian Howie Mandel is headlining the judging panel.
Veteran America’s Got Talent host, Mandel will share hosting duties with Youtube sensation and talk show veteran Lilly Singh, Universal Music Canada senior VP of A&R Kardinal Offishall and former WWE wrestler Trish Status.
Produced by Fremantle, SYCO Entertainment and McGillivray Entertainment Media Inc., in association with Citytv, a division of Rogers Sports & Media, executive producers include Scott McGillivray, Angela Jennings, and Mike Bickerton with showrunner Jonathan Payne. The team at Rogers Sports & Media includes director of original programming Nataline Rodrigues, VP of programming and acquisition Hayden Mindell and news and entertainment president Julie Adam.
McGillivray announced his role in July as he expands his brand beyond the home construction and renovation sector.
A Canadian Walk of Fame inductee, Mandel, co-owns Montreal’s annual Just For Laughs comedy festival and hosts the weekly podcast Howie Mandel Does Stuff with his daughter Jackelyn Schultz.
Scarborough-born Singh recently, who enjoyed a two-year run on NBC with her groundbreaking original talkshow A Little Late With Lilly Singh, has just signed onto a Netflix comedy series to be produced by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.
Canada Got Talent is expected to air on Citytv in Spring 2022.
