Rogers Sports & Media has tapped Canadian comedian and TV personality Howie Mandel (pictured) to host the Canadian adaptation of the popular game show The Price is Right for Citytv.
The series, currently under the working title The Price is Right Tonight, was announced ahead of the broadcaster’s virtual upfront presentation on Tuesday (June 3). The show, based on the format from Fremantle, will consist of 12 one-hour episodes and is entering production in Toronto this December. More information on the project and its production team will be announced in the coming months.
“The Price is Right Tonight will bring a fresh, high-energy twist to everything people love about the original – big games, lots of laughs and fun surprises,” said Mandel in a statement. “I can’t wait to say ‘come on down!’ to a whole new generation of Canadian fans.”
Also coming to Citytv in 2025-26 are new seasons for police procedurals Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (Cameron Pictures, Lark Productions) and Hudson & Rex (Shaftesbury, Pope Productions), currently in production in Newfoundland. Law & Order Toronto, just coming off its Best Drama Series win at the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards, is heading into its third season while Hudson & Rex‘s season eight is premiering this fall. Citytv’s morning show Breakfast Television will also continue for the 2025-26 season.
Reality series On Brand with Jimmy Fallon is among the new non-Canadian projects for Citytv, in which the comedian and talk-show host starts a marketing agency and fills it with the most creative, competitive and clever minds he can find. It is joined by NBC’s eight-episode series Surviving Earth, which explores lessons from ancient mass extinctions.
In live events, Rogers Sports & Media expanded on its coverage for the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in September, with Citytv airing a one-hour red carpet special hosted by Toronto-born Arisa Cox. Citytv will also air a Making of Wicked special hosted by the musical’s stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Returning non-Canadian series for Citytv in 2025-26 include a new season of Bachelor in Paradise, hosted by Canadian TV personality and former NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer; Steve Harvey’s Celebrity Family Feud; America’s Got Talent; Dancing with the Stars; and Destination X. The slate also features the returning animated comedies The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Universal Basic Guys and Krapopolis.
Citytv is also continuing with other members of the Law & Order franchise including Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime. The channel and its streaming service, Citytv+ will also feature the procedurals Brilliant Minds, The Hunting Party, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.
