Reel World Management (RWM) is in development on a one-hour drama series with Phylicia Rashad (Empire, The Cosby Show; pictured) set to executive produce and potentially star.
The prodco, which has offices in Montreal, Vancouver and L.A., will adapt the Eternity Springs book series from American novelist Emily March, with John E. Pogue (Beauty and the Beast, Everwood) attached to write. Rashad is expected to headline the series, schedule permitting.
The book series takes place in a small town in Colorado where lost souls come to find refuge and healing. The rights for Eternity Springs was negotiated by Christina Hogrebe and Meg Ruley of Jane Rotrosen Agency.
RWM president Roma Roth and COO Christopher E. Perry will executive produce alongside Rashad and Pogue. Rosana Roth will be a co-producer. There are no networks currently attached to the series; the producers are preparing to shop it to potential buyers.
“We are excited to collaborate with Phylicia Rashad, an extraordinary talented actor whose impressive body of work not only laid the foundation for inclusivity, but opened the door to change in Hollywood at a time when it wasn’t as fashionable to do so,” said Roth, in a statement.
Canadian country music star Shania Twain partnered with RWM in 2020 to develop a series based on the American book series Heart of Texas, with Twain attached as executive producer and original songwriter. The company has most recently produced the Netflix series Virgin River.
Rashad is represented by Innovative Artists and Barbra Korn of BKEntertainment.
