The CW has picked up Sullivan’s Crossing (pictured) for season three in the U.S.
The romantic drama series was renewed by CTV at the Bell Media upfronts in June. The 10 x 60-minute season is set to debut on CTV and the CW in 2025. It is based on the book series by Robyn Carr and created by Reel World president and showrunner Roma Roth.
Halifax-shot Sullivan’s Crossing stars Morgan Kohan, Chad Michael Murray, Tom Jackson, Andrea Menard and Scott Patterson.
Season three is executive produced by Reel World Management in association with CTV, the CW and Fremantle. Marc Tetreault, Mark Gingras and Jason Levangie serve as producers. For Fremantle, Michela Di Mondo and Hilary Martin are executive producers. The series is distributed internationally by Fremantle.
A September report from the Canadian Media Producers Association revealed the series’ first season generated more than $47.5 million in economic activity in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Hulu, Fifth Season
Hulu has picked up season three of CBC’s Run the Burbs as part of a multi-title deal with L.A.-based distributor Fifth Season.
The Pier 21 Films-produced sitcom, created by star Andrew Phung and Scott Townend, ended this April with its third season. The deal, which sees the third season join the U.S. streaming service this month, completes the series’ 38 x 30-minute run on Hulu.
The first two seasons landed on Hulu on Dec. 31, 2023.
Cineflix Rights
Cineflix Rights has sold the documentary series Rameses the Great: King of Ancient Egypt from France’s Pernel Media to Radio-Canada’s Explora channel.
The 6 x 60-minute series was also sold to a raft of broadcasters across Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. The deals were announced at the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers in Marrakesh.
The series delves into the 67-year reign of the ancient pharaoh using CGI reconstructions and expert commentary.
Off the Fence
Off the Fence has acquired the documentary Covid Collateral from Toronto-based Matter of Fact Media.
The prodco and distributor has picked up rights to the film outside of the U.S. and Canada. Off the Fence has offices in Bristol, Amsterdam, London and Toronto.
The film examines claims of “scientific suppression” during the pandemic, according to a release. It was commissioned by Joe Wang, president of New Tang Dynasty TV Canada.
All3Media International, CBC Gem
All3Media International has struck a VOD rights deal with CBC Gem for both seasons of Tannadice Pictures’ crime drama The Gold.
The deal came with other acquisitions for the series in Germany, New Zealand, Estonia and Australia.
The 6 x 60-minute first season delves into the true story of the 1983 Brinks-Mat depot gold robbery, then-worth £26 million, near Heathrow Airport. Season two, expected to air in 2025, follows the aftermath.
