Toronto-based production outfit Cream Productions has elevated James Farr to VP of development.
Farr (pictured), who currently serves as director of development, will oversee the efforts of Cream’s development staff while continuing to produce and develop true crime, history and paranormal programming for both broadcast and cable networks.
He will continue to report directly to CEO David Brady and president Kate Harrison Karman.
Since joining the company in 2010, Farr has led the development on specials and series in a variety of unscripted genres, including true crime shows such as Investigation Discovery’s Fear Thy Neighbor, If I Should Die and Murder U; and other projects including History Canada’s The World Without Canada, and the Emmy nominated Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War for AHC. He also co-developed BTK: A Killer Among Us (Investigation Discovery) and the upcoming Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan (Netflix).
Prior to joining Cream, he was a development writer for the Toronto International Film Festival.
“James has been an integral part of Cream’s slate for a decade, and is a big part of our success in true crime and paranormal programming,” said Brady in a statement. “He’s a dynamic developer committed to finding unique access, intellectual property, and creating exciting and memorable content.”
The prodco recently launched a documentary film division, hiring Corey Russell to lead the launch as executive VP, as well as to develop documentaries and specials under the banner.
