Int’l prodcos buy Media Ranch’s Watch!

The format from creators Dan Munday and John Kirhoffer has been sold to Bunim/Murray Productions, ITV Studios and more.

Montreal-based prodco and distributor Media Ranch has closed several new territory deals for its memory-based gameshow format Watch!.

Created by producers Dan Munday and John Kirhoffer, the format pits two teams of four against one another, testing their memory skills after witnessing a live variety act. It has been sold to Bunim/Murray Productions for the U.S., RDF/Fizz for the U.K., Warner for Denmark, ITV Studios for Sweden and Endemol Shine Group for Italy, Spain and Portugal. The show has yet to be produced.

Last month, the format was picked up by Talpa for Germany, WeMake in France and NBCUniversal International Studios’ Australian company Matchbox Pictures. With these newly inked agreements in hand, Watch! has been sold to a total of 10 major territories.

Media Ranch founder, president and executive producer Sophie Ferron, SVP Tanja van der Goes and Louise Juel Severin, VP of sales and acquisitions, Scandinavia, negotiated these deals. Severin officially joined the team, expanding the company’s reach in March 2019.

Earlier this year, Media Ranch struck a pact with Danish pubcaster DR to represent its TV formats catalogue internationally. Most recently, the producer-distributor announced the search for participants for its second edition of its French-Canadian TV format incubator Horsepower was underway. Currently, the winning format from the inaugural edition of the initiative, Family Tripped, is being co-developed with Media Ranch and incubator partner Quebecor Content.
