Filming is underway in Montreal on the Tu te souviendras de moi, produced by Christian Larouche’s Christal Films banner.
Based on a play by François Archambault, the film follows a retired history teacher who begins to lose his memory. Archambault co-wrote the script with writer/director Éric Tessier (Junior Majeur), who is set to direct the adaptation. Larouche is serving as a producer. Filming is expected to wrap in late October.
Larouche’s credits include Junior Majeur, one of the top 10 Canadian films at the Canadian box office in 2017, and Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2 (“The 3 Little Pigs 2”), which took home the Canadian Academy’s 2016 Golden Screen Award for the Canadian film with the highest domestic box office in a calendar year. In addition, Larouche served as a coproducer on Fantasia International Film Festival’s best film winner Dans La Brume (Canada/France).
Tu te souviendras de moi will be released theatrically and on VOD in Quebec by Les Films Opale, Larouche’s newly launched distribution company. Since 2009, Les Films Christal distributed its films through a deal with eOne’s Les Films Seville. That partnership has since expired, according to a PR rep for Christal Films Production.
In June, Tu te souviendras de moi was one of five projects selected by the Quebecor Fund for its Film Production Assistance Program. The film was also produced with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, SODEC, the Harold Greenberg Fund, and Radio-Canada.
The feature stars Remy Girard (The Fall of the American Empire), France Castel (Les Jeunes Loups), Julie LeBreton (Plan B), David Boutin (1:54) and Karelle Tremblay (Unite 9).
