Director Alain Chicoine’s Le Cyclone de Noël has grossed more than $500,000 at the Quebec box office following its Nov. 8 theatrical release.

Le Cyclone de Noël, a Christmas film inspired by the ICI Tou.TV Extra series L’oeil du cyclone (KOTV), is the first Radio-Canada original film produced by KOTV. KOTV initially proposed a Christmas episode for L’oeil du cyclone, but Radio-Canada opted for a film instead, a KOTV spokesperson told Playback Daily. As of Nov. 15, the film has grossed $575,935 across around 100 screens in Quebec.

Le Cyclone de Noël is written by Dominic Anctil (L’oeil du cyclone), Marie-Élène Grégoire (La médiatrice) and Louis-Philippe Rivard (450, chemin du golf). KO Distribution and Les Films Opale are distributing the film.

Production on the film began on April 14, 2024 and ended on May 7.

KOTV’s Louis Morissette, Mélanie Viau and Louis-Philippe Drolet are executive producers on the film.

The film stars Christine Beaulieu (Cerebrum), who also stars in the series, and follows her character as she tries to protect the traditions and magic of Christmas.

Other actors who make an appearance from the series are Véronique Cloutier (Dangerous People), Patrick Hivon (Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person), Catherine Souffront Darbouze (Allen Sunshine), Danielle Proulx (C.R.A.Z.Y.), Luc Senay (Veille sur moi), Emi Chicoine (Noémie Says Yes), Juliette Aubé (Avant le crash) and Joey Bélanger (Sweetheart).

The film is also set to come to ICI Tou.TV Extra, a Radio-Canada steaming service, with a date to be announced later in December.
