Filming is underway in Calgary on CTV’s Jann Arden-starring original comedy, Jann (6 x 30 minutes).
Featuring the Canadian icon playing a fictionalized version of herself, Jann follows a performer who is convinced a rebrand will put her career back on track. Produced by Project 10 Productions and Seven24 Films, the half-hour series was put into development in spring 2017 and unveiled at Bell Media’s 2018 Upfront. It is set to premiere in mid-season as part of CTV’s 2018/19 slate. Production is expected to continue until Oct. 4.
In addition to her lead role, Arden is a co-creator and executive producer on the show with Leah Gauthier (First Dates Canada) and Jennica Harper (Cardinal). Exec producers from Project 10 include the prodco’s president Andrew Barnsley (Schitt’s Creek) and VP development and production Ben Murray (Working the Engels). Seven24’s Tom Cox (Heartland) and Jordy Randall (Wynonna Earp) also serve as exec producers.
Jann stars Zoie Palmer (Dark Matter), Patrick Gilmore (Travelers), Deborah Grover (Anne With An E), Alexa Rose Steele (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Jason Blicker (What Would Sal Do?), Sharon Taylor (Bad Blood) and Elena Juatco (Open Heart).
