Breakthrough names Pilar Segura as head of production

Segura has previously partnered with the Toronto prodco on projects including David Rocco's Amalfi Getaway and Hollywood Homicide Uncovered.

Breakthrough Entertainment has added to its executive team with the hire of Pilar Segura as its new head of production.

Segura has previously collaborated with the Toronto-based prodco on the docuseries Hollywood Homicide Uncovered, food-travel series David Rocco’s Amalfi Getaway and reality-science show Think Big. In the new role, Segura will head up Breakthrough’s production arm across both scripted and unscripted.

Pilar previously served as VP of production and partner at Screenlife Productions and throughout her career has produced a mixture of lifestyle, reality, documentary and scripted programming.

Most recently, Breakthrough went into production on another horror feature with Black Fawn Films, I’ll Take Your Dead, marking its ninth collaboration with the prodco. The company also last year signed on to adapt author/screenwriter Keith Ross Leckie’s novel Coppermine for the big screen in partnership with Winnipeg’s Buffalo Gal Pictures.

The hire comes four months after the departure of long-time Breakthrough exec and former EVP of family entertainment Joan Lambur, who left in order to form her own company, Lambur Productions.
