Indiecan swoops on McConnell’s Broken Mile

Avi Federgreen's indie-distribution outfit has landed the domestic rights less than a week after Gravitas Ventures acquired the film for the U.S.

Avi Federgreen’s Indiecan Entertainment has acquired the Canadian distribution rights to Justin McConnell’s thriller Broken Mile (previously titled Red Mile).

The deal was struck following the film’s screening at the Canadian Film Festival and will see Indiecan releasing the film in theatres later this summer. No date yet been confirmed.

Produced by McConnell’s Toronto prodco Unstable Ground, in association with Pasha Patriki’s Toronto-based 9 Light Entertainment and Andrew van den Houten’s New York-based 79th Broadway Entertainment, the film stars Francesco Filice as a drug addict who wakes up to find a friend dead on his sofa.

Last week it was announced that California-based distributor Gravitas Ventures had picked up the U.S. rights. Surrey, B.C.-based sales agent APL Film is handling international sales.

Broken Mile made its world premiere in December at the Whistler Film Festival.
