Vancouver’s Bron Studios will join Gloria Sanchez Productions to produce the dark comedy Friend of Bill.
Set to go to camera on Vancouver Island this November, the feature stars Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Masters of Sex) as a writer who goes to rehab after being arrested for public drunkenness.
Amy Rice will direct Friend of Bill from a screenplay written by Harper Dill.
Bron Studios founder Aaron L. Gilbert will produce, alongside Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay of Gloria Sanchez Productions, as well as Margot Hand of Picture Films and Caplan.
Bron previously partnered with Gloria Sanchez Productions and Margot Hand on the 2014 film Welcome To Me.
It’s been a busy year for Bron, with the company announcing a raft of high-profile production gigs. Earlier this month, it was announced that Bron will coproduce Dinner with Beatriz alongside Christine Vachon’s Killer Films. In May, the company signed on to coproduce Jason Reitman’s Tully, and in April the Vancouver studio boarded Paramount project Fences, to be directed by Denzel Washington.
