Backstage lands multi-territory Disney Channel deal

The Fresh TV series was commissioned by DHX Media for Family Channel.

DHX Media has licensed Fresh TV’s Backstage to Disney Channel in multiple territories, including the U.S. and the U.K.

The 30 x 30-minute series was acquired by the Disney Channel for 15 territories in total. In addition to the U.S. and the U.K., the show was acquired for the Disney Channel in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Nordics, Benelux, Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Backstage is a scripted, docudrama-style series that follows a group of teenagers attending a prestigious arts high school. The series was commissioned by DHX’s Family Channel and will bow on the channel this spring.

Backstage was created and developed by Jennifer Pertsch and Fresh TV in association with DHX Television. Pertsch also writes and produces the series. Fresh TV’s Brian Irving serves as producer and executive producer. Other executive producers are showrunner Lara Azzopardi, who also directed and co-developed the series in addition to writing, Tom McGillis and George Elliott. Backstage stars Devyn Nekoda, Alyssa Trask, Aviva Mongillo, Joshua Bogert, Julia Tomasone, Matthew Isen, Kyal Legend, McKenzie Small, Isiah Hall and Adrianna Di Liello.
