The Independent Production Fund (IPF) has released its latest shortlist of web series projects that have made it through the first round of the selection process for the funding program.
The IPF invests about $1.5 million in the production of Canadian web series every year. The shortlist includes 23 web series projects that were selected by 40 industry professionals. The shortlist includes 14 proposed English-language web series, and 9 French-language web series.
This round’s short listed projects are: À temps pour Noël from Productions Pixcom; Avec pas de parents from Banana productions; Bait from Are They Human/Jared Pelletier Productions; Disorderly from DHX Media Ltd.; Doppel Gander from CocoMilk Productions; Entendu dans les bars from Be Happy productions; Haphead from No Media Kings; Haute mer from Télévision Parallèle, Inconvenience from Chili Films; Inhuman Condition from Smokebomb Entertainment; Les Guerriers from Productions Haka; Les Presqu’histoires from Pouding Film; L’étrange province from Version 10 and Solofilms; March Family Letters from Cherrydale Productions; Mr. Fantasy/The Portal from First Love Films Inc.; Paranormal Solutions Inc. from Sociable Films, Rare Little Bird & BiG RiG Productions; The Plateaus from Screen Asylum Inc.; Sing and Sail Away from Hunky Dorey Entertainment Inc.; Sports Bar Heroes from 83 Pictures; Sudden Master from TUD Productions; TEZO from Zone 3; Thomas est nerveux from Jimmy Lee; and Werewoman from Kingsberg Studios.
In the second phase, the creators of the shortlisted projects must submit a detailed business, financial and marketing plan by May 5. The IPF board of directors will make the final decisions on which projects will receive funding in June.
