Bell Media has bought the local development rights to the competitive reality series Opposite Worlds, in addition to acquiring the format and the simulcast rights to the U.S. version.
The series, from Banijay International, sees players living in a house separated into two environments simulating the past and the future.
“Bell Media has picked up the rights, but we have not made any decisions about developing this series for a Canadian market,” Brook Peters, director of programming, Bell Media Specialty Television, told Playback.
Bell Media’s Space channel will air Syfy’s Opposite Worlds, produced by Eyeworks USA, in simulcast with the U.S. broadcast. The series will air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, primiering on Jan. 21. The original format aired in Chile on Canal 13.
“At the centre of this truly immersive show is a fascinating experiment that sees diverse characters, challenges and scenarios emerge, creating a ‘must-watch’ experience that audiences are able to interact with and influence across multiple platforms,” said Sebastian Burkhardt, head of sales at Banijay International, in a statement.
