Tricon Films & Television has struck an agreement with AMC Studios to distribute AMC’s new scripted drama series The Divide, outside the U.S.

The deal extends Tricon’s relationship with AMC Networks, with Tricon already exclusively repping AMC-owned IFC programming worldwide.

Written by Richard LaGravenese (Behind the Candelabra, The Fisher King), The Divide follows an impassioned case worker who delves into a death row inmate’s case. Believing the inmate was wrongly convicted, she searches for new evidence while confronted by varying views of the meaning of “justice,” while the story becomes intertwined with her own personal history.

The Divide is co-created by LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn (Justified, Damages), who are executive producing along with John Tinker (The Practice), who will also serve as showrunner. Andrew Sugerman is co-executive producer.

AMC Studios is producing the 10-episode one-hour series, with Goldwyn directing the pilot. The series is slated to premiere on WE tv in the U.S. in 2014.
