Telefilm, Rogers Group of Funds renew doc program

Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds have renewed the theatrical documentary program for 2013-2014.

In the program, Telefilm and Rogers jointly finance selected projects, with Telefilm providing funding either in the production or post-production stage, and Rogers focusing its funding primarily on the production stage.

Films that have received funding from the program in the past include Yung Chang’s China Heavyweight, released in 2012, and 2011’s La Nuit, elles dansent, directed by Isabelle Lavigne and Stephane Thibault.

For English-language projects in the production stage, Telefilm’s recoupable financial contribution is either up to $187,500, or 49% of production costs (whichever is less), while Rogers will make a recoupable equity investment of up to $125,000.

For French-language projects in the production stage, Telefilm contributes either up to $137,500 or 49% of production costs (whichever is less), while Rogers’ equity investment is a maximum of $62,500.

At the post-production stage, Telefilm invests either up to $75,000 or 49% of post-production costs (whichever is less) in English-language and French-language productions.

Full guidelines are available online.

The program began as a pilot program in June 2005, with Telefilm, CBC and the Rogers Group of Funds.
