Skull World, a documentary directed by Justin McConnell, will receive a North American theatrical release and Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD rollout thanks to a partnership between Toronto’s Indican Entertainment and production shingle Unstable Ground.
The documentary, which had its world premiere at the Canadian Film Festival last week, tells the story of Greg Sommer, a.k.a Skull Man, and his involvement in Box Wars, what’s billed as “an international underground movement of cardboard-based combat.”
The theatrical tour is set to start May 10 at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto, with the ancillary platform releases beginning June 18. Regarding those platforms, the North America rollout will feature a region-free DVD and limited edition “Warrior Edition” Blu-Ray. The VOD territories include Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
Coproducer Raven Banner Entertainment otherwise continues to represent the film internationally.
Indiecan CEO Avi Federgreen negotiated the deal with Unstable Ground’s McConnell, in association with Variety Store TV Inc.
