Cinespace Film Studios has announced that the Germany-Canada co-production Pompeii has been booked to shoot at the company’s 30-acre Kipling Avenue Studio in Toronto.
The project is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and produced by Impact Pictures (Pompeii) Inc., Germany’s Constantin Film and Toronto’s Don Carmody Productions – the team who executed the highly successful Resident Evil franchise.
Principal photography is slated to begin in April.
The period film is set in the days leading up to the famous eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, and will involve significant construction builds of ancient Roman architecture and considerable visual effects and computer generated imagery. The live action portions of the film will be captured in native 3-D, the backers said in a press release Friday.
