Entertainment One has hired former Teletoon acquisitions exec Jessica Watson as manager of acquisitions across all genres, and former ITV exec Justina Hemperek as manager, factual acquisitions, U.K. and Europe, the company announced Monday.
“Known for premium content and with an already well established production slate, eOne is expanding our acquisitions team to continue the growth of our catalogue. Justina and Jessica will play an integral role in the ramp up on sourcing new content and the redefining of our offerings to clients worldwide. They will focus on quality not quantity and will be actively looking for new brands for us to embrace and build on a global level,” said eOne SVP worldwide sales and acquisitions Prentiss Fraser in a statement.
Watson will be responsible for acquiring television product for distribution to all media outlets worldwide. She most recently worked as an acquisitions specialist at Teletoon, where she acquired series and movies for kids and adult audiences for five specialty channels. She previously worked at Red Varden Studios and Camp Base Films.
Hemperek will be responsible for acquiring all factual programming from the U.K. and Europe. She most recently worked as acquisitions manager at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, where she acquired such series as Come Dine With Me, Four Weddings and Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan. She has also worked at ALL3MEDIA International and RDF Rights.
Watson will be based in eOne’s Toronto office, while Hemperek will be based in London. Both Watson and Hemperek will report directly to Fraser.
