The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has added three new members to its board of directors and named its next vice chair.
The new additions to the board are Prentiss Fraser, Fifth Season’s president, television distribution; head of YouTube Canada Andrew Peterson; and Jane Rimer, Banijay Rights’ SVP, Canada.
Fraser oversees the Fifth Season distribution team’s strategy for scripted and unscripted TV projects. She first joined the global studio in 2019, following roles at Fox Networks Group and Entertainment One Television International.
Peterson leads the YouTube Canada team, which supports the growth of domestic content creators at home and abroad. Prior to joining the Canadian division, he worked within YouTube’s Australia and New Zealand team. He formerly served as content strategy director for Universal Music Group in Sydney. In November, he was one of six added to the Canadian Academy’s board of directors.
Rimer has handled Banijay Rights’ Canadian partnerships and sales since joining in 2020 when Banijay acquired Endemol Shine Group. She previously worked at Toronto’s Insight Productions as their head of international strategy and was a senior executive at FremantleMedia North America.
Meanwhile, Patrick Vien, A+E Networks’ group managing director, international, has succeeded Bron co-founder Brenda Gilbert as vice chair of the board. Vien first joined the board in January alongside Paramount Global Content Distribution’s Lisa Kramer and Gold House’s Bing Chen.
Gilbert will remain on as a member of the board of directors.
BANFF also announced that Toon Boom Animation CEO Colin Bohm and Sally Catto, CBC’s general manager of entertainment, factual and sports, are departing the board.
“This is a pivotal moment for BANFF as we continue to grow our impact on and service to the global media industry,” said Sean Cohan, Bell Media president and BANFF board chair, in a statement. “With the addition of such accomplished leaders to our board, we are well-positioned to advance the festival’s mission of facilitating major business partnerships and fostering creative collaboration on new film, TV and digital projects. There is more to come as we lead up to the 2025 festival. Stay tuned.”
