Principal photography has begun on the local version of Norwegian format Never Ever Do This At Home, produced by Insight Productions for Discovery Channel Canada.
Teddy Wilson, currently the host of Space’s daily flagship entertainment talk show Innerspace, and comedian Norm Sousa (The Sketchersons) will host the series.
“With their unparalleled expertise at adapting the world’s most exciting formats, I can’t wait to see what the team at Insight does with Never Ever Do This At Home. It’s going to be explosive, it’s going to be entertaining, and it’s going to keep our viewers on the edge of their seats,” said director of commissioning and production for Discovery, Edwina Follows in a statement.
Never Ever Do This At Home will follow hosts Wilson and Sousa as they conduct madcap and volatile experiments in an old farmhouse in Brant County, Ontario. The series will also feature experts in various fields, including demolition, chemistry and radiation to help the hosts understand the science behind the experiments.
Discovery ordered 13 half-hours of Insight’s version of Never Ever Do This At Home after the Toronto-based producer earlier optioned the format from Norwegian broadcaster NRK in a deal brokered with U.K. indie distributor DRG.
The series, in development for the last six months, will shoot primarily on location at a 100-acre property in Brant Conty.
Never Ever Do This At Home is produced by Insight Productions in association with Discovery Channel Canada and Bell Media.
John Brunton and Barbara Bowlby are exec producing and Rae Upton is directing. Lindsay Cox is supervising producer, and Chris Chilco is producer.
