Proper Television is to produce a homegrown version of U.K format May The Best House Win to HGTV Canada, it announced Wednesday.

The series, based on the ITV Studios Global Entertainment format features, is currently casting in southern Ontario and is slated to premiere on HGTV this fall.

“May The Best House Win has achieved great success in the UK and our partnership with ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Proper Television enables us to bring the first-ever Canadian edition of this fantastic series to our viewers,” said Barbara Williams, senior VP of content for Shaw Media, in a statement.

“HGTV is exploring new territory through this format, adding more character-driven content to our already diverse slate of highly entertaining home-related hits,” she added.

Each episode of May The Best House Win features homeowners who tour and grade each other’s homes, with the homeowner who receives the highest score earning a $1000 prize.

In addition to the U.K., the format has been commissioned across Europe including Germany, Spain and Belgium.
