CBS inks licensing deal for Netflix Canada

Netflix subscribers in Canada will be seeing more American programming this September, as the content subscription service announced today a content deal with CBS.

The two-year, non-exclusive international licensing agreement will bring a range of current and back seasons of CBS library programming, including Numb3rs, Sleeper Cell and Twin Peaks, as well as shows from The CW (90210) and Showtime (Californication, Dexter, The United States of Tara).

“This new arrangement – which does not compete with U.S. ratings or Showtime’s domestic subscriber base – underscores the popularity of CBS content around the world, and illustrates yet another meaningful way for us to realize incremental value from our vast library of content,” said Armando Nunez, president, CBS Studios International, in a statement.

The licensing agreement also extends to subscribers in Latin America.
