Hot Sheet: Emily in Paris moves up in digital demand

The second part of the Netflix rom-com's fourth season premiered on Sept. 12.

Netflix’s Emily in Paris took the second spot on the digital demand chart following the premiere of the second part of its fourth season.

The rom-com was 36.6 times more popular than the average TV series in Canada during the week of Sept. 16 to 22, according to Parrot Analytics.

The second part of the fourth season premiered on Sept. 12, and Netflix confirmed its renewal for a fifth season on Sept. 16. The first part of Emily in Paris’ fourth season had it land at No. 5 on the digital originals chart earlier this August.

Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel maintains the top spot. The animated-musical comedy had a demand average of 39.9. Rounding out the top three is Netflix’s live-action adaption of the iconic Japanese manga and anime One Piece with a demand average of 27.8.

At No. 10 on the digital originals list is Dropout’s unpredictable game show Game Changer with a demand average of 22.5. This marks the first time an original series from the U.S. streaming service has appeared on Playback‘s Hot Sheet.

On the overall demand chart, Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show maintain their control of the top two spots with a demand average of 44.4 and 41.4 respectively.

Editor’s note: Due to a data processing issue with Parrot Analytics, the weekly Hot Sheet is being published with back-dated numbers for an indefinite period.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.
