It worked with Betty White and Hot in Cleveland, and now Ed Asner has been cast in the upcoming CBC sitcom Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays from Rhombus Media.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Lou Grant Show star is to perform a cameo as Dr. Wasserman, the psychiatrist’s psychiatrist, series executive producer Bob Martin announced Sunday.

Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays is shooting in Ottawa through the end of August, and will bow on the CBC on Sept. 14.

Niv Fichman and Sari Friedland are producing the comedy, with Martin and Don McKellar executive producing.

McKellar, Alison MacLean and Patricia Rozema are directing Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays from scripts written by Martin, Matt Watts, Susan Coyne, Mark McKinney and Katie Ford.

Rounding out the ensemble cast for the CBC sitcom are Jennifer Irwin, Pablo Silveira, Martha Burns and Tommie-Amber Pirie.
