CMF invests $11.5 million in interactive media

Take that to the bank: The Canada Media Fund has invested another $11.5 million in 36 interactive media projects as part of its experimental stream.

In all, 17 projects in production secured $8.6 million in coin to make video games, websites, mobile applications and one software application.

The CMF poured an average $509,000 into the produced interactive media.

The fund handed out another $1.9 million to develop 13 projects, with the average investment being $150,000.

And the CMF, which works to secure markets and distribution for Canadian content, invested another $960,000 in six projects for marketing assistance.

Here the average contribution was $160,000.

The fund relied on specialists to judge the experimental stream applications, including Catherine Warren and Lynda Brown Ganzert in Vancouver, Sylvain Carle and Jean-Pierre Faucher in Montreal, Dré Labre and Lucie Lalumière in Toronto, and New York and Toronto-based Gavin McGarry.
