Overnight data from BBM has the Grey Cup audience at 6.04 million viewers – only slightly behind last year’s record 6.1 million viewers. Viewership for the 98th Grey Cup peaked at 7.6 million on TSN and RDS late in the fourth quarter.
TSN reports that close to 14 million viewers tuned in at some point during the game to catch the action.
The average audience is the third highest for the network, after the 2010 IIHF World Junior gold medal game and the 2009 Grey Cup.
Online, TSN.ca had more than five and a half million page views, with 689,000 unique visitors on Sunday – close to double last year’s totals. The TSN and RDS sites also streamed the game live to a combined total of 89,000 additional viewers.
In the end, the Alouettes held on for a 21-18, replicating last year’s results.
