Tricon Films and Television is the latest Canadian indie producer to open a Los Angeles office.

Tricon founder Andrea Gorfolova told Playback Daily she is moving stateside to oversee the new stateside division.

The decision to expand southwards was made in part after HGTV U.S. ordered 26 episodes of the Tricon series Secrets From a Stylist in Los Angeles for the American channel.

That series order followed Tricon producing a one hour home design special that starred Emily Henderson (pictured), the season five winner of HGTV Design Star show.

After the TV special drew impressive numbers for HGTV U.S., the American cable channel went straight to a 26-episode order that will keep Tricon busy in Los Angeles for at least seven months.

And that upcoming gig prompted the Canadian producer, now in its tenth year of operation, to cement its Los Angeles presence with a permanent satellite office.
