Global starts early for fall premieres

Global’s new fall schedule starts early this year with Shattered, a new drama about a cop with multiple personality disorder, starring Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galacatica), the show debuts Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. – three weeks before CTV’s big premiere week and that of Rogers’ Citytv.

The reality behemoths do not return until Sept. 15, with Survivor debuting its first ageist season (The Espada tribe will feature contestants over the age of 40, and the La Flor tribe will include contestants who are under 30) in Nicaragua on Wednesday at 8 p.m., and The Apprentice is getting fired up with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. All the contestants in this year’s The Apprentice, which has a regular timeslot of 10 p.m., have been affected by the economic recession and are therefore looking for a second chance.

Season three of 90210 returns on Sunday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., while Outlaw, a new courtroom drama starring Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue) and Canadian actress Carly Pope (24), makes its debut later that week on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10 p.m.

A big new Monday night for Global launches Sept. 20 with House, in its seventh season, airing at 8 p.m. followed by Lone Star at 9 p.m. and the much-hyped Hawaii Five-O at 10 p.m.

Gleeks have probably already marked Sept. 21 in their iCalendars as the sophomore season of Glee is kicking off at 8 p.m., followed by a special two-hour premiere of NCIS: Los Angeles at 9 p.m.

NCIS season eight launches Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m., and it’s a new night for Bones as season six moves to Thursdays this fall beginning Sept. 23, airing at 8 p.m.

This will be the last season that fans of The Office will chuckle at Michael Scott’s ignorant management style as Steve Carell has announced his resignation from the half-hour comedy, which launches Thursday Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. It will be followed by new series Outsourced at 9:30 p.m.

Sunday nights will continue with with a trifecta of animation including The Simpsons, The Cleveland Show and Family Guy starting Sept. 26 at 8 p.m., while the drama Brothers & Sisters starring Calista Flockheart rounds out the evening at 10 p.m.

The last of Global’s premieres will air on Tuesday, Sept. 28 with The Good Wife, which has received multiple Emmy nominations including best actress for Julianna Margulies.
