Actor Byron Lawson has been cast in Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures, playing a doctor and relative to star Mayko Nguyen.

The Vancouver-bred performer — seen recently on episodes of Smallville, Sanctuary and Reaper — plays one of the many doctors in the eight-part drama in the works at Shaftesbury Films. The series is led by Shawn Ashmore, Mayko Nguyen and Byron Mann, playing physicians who are reunited after med school at a Toronto hospital. Lawson plays Karl, described as both a ‘powerful force’ in the life of his younger cousin and a rival of Ashmore’s character.

Lawson is represented by Vickie Petronio at Play Management in Vancouver. His other credits include a lead role in the series Jeremiah and smaller parts in Snakes on a Plane and Romeo Must Die. He is based in L.A.
