iTunes to carry E1 titles

E1 Entertainment is making the leap to iTunes with its teen vampire hit Twilight, which headlines the pack of films, documentaries and children’s content now available from the distributor through the popular online store.

Twilight is available for pre-order on iTunes in Canada and the U.K. — where E1 is the distributor — and in the U.S. through Summit Entertainment. The DVD will be released in March.

‘We are expanding our digital offering on a multi territory basis and with iTunes we can provide consumers easy access to our library of films and television programs,’ commented Patrice Théroux, president of filmed entertainment at E1, in a Monday release.

Twilight is expected to be a big hit on DVD after the film, based on the popular Stephenie Meyer novel, generated nearly $20 million at the Canuck box office since its release on Nov. 21. The story follows the dangerously intimate relationship between a high school student and a vampire, and stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Other E1 offerings available on iTunes include the Canuck series Terminal City, and features such as Jeremy Podeswa’s Fugitive Pieces and documentaries Global Metal and Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey.
