Sun Media shuffles Nesbitt

The Toronto Sun has tapped Mike Nesbitt as its general manager for new media, a newly created position that will see the former Sun TV GM of operations develop multimedia and convergence initiatives with Sun Media sister enterprises including Canoe and 24 Hours.

The Tuesday announcement comes amid changes at the struggling Toronto paper as it transforms into a multimedia entity to ‘deliver news content through all the Quebecor Media platforms,’ according to publisher and CEO Kin-Man Lee.

Nesbitt has more than 20 years of media experience under his belt, including stints as a reporter and assignment editor at Citytv, director of news operations at Calgary’s CKAL TV and manager of creative services at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Sun Media, a subsidiary of Quebecor, is Canada’s second largest newspaper publisher.
