CTF hands out BPE cash

The Canadian Television Fund has released its list of broadcasters and producers who received cash through its Broadcast Performance Envelopes — and last week handed cheques totaling some $41.2 million to producers linked with CBC, most of which went to drama projects including Galafilm’s St. Urbain’s Horseman ($4 million) and The Trojan Horse ($4 million), the forthcoming sequel to Paul Gross’ H2O.

CTV projects received nearly $18 million, $15.1 million of which is earmarked for drama, including $6.6 million for the second season of Whistler.

Bravo! got a total of $8.8 million from its BPE, including $4.2 million for the 13 x 60 The Murdoch Mysteries from Shaftesbury Films. APTN, meanwhile, saw $300,000 go towards its six-ep order for Hank Williams First Nation — The Series, the TV follow-up to the sleeper hit movie.

On the French side, TVA obtained $16.7 million, mostly for dramas that have already been broadcast, such as the fifth installment of Sphere Media’s Annie et ses hommes ($2.1 million) and the third run of Lance et compte by Communications Claude Heroux ($2.9 million).

SRC obtained $24.9 million from CTF, including $17.6 million for dramatic series, including the recently aired first season of C.A. and the second go-round of Les Invincibles. Its rival TQS scored $2.8 million from the fund, almost all of which went to dramas, including the second installment of Bob Gratton ($1.3 million).
