Bias all over Canadian news

In your March 17 editorial, you try to make the point that the U.S. media is running in lockstep with the White House, and in doing so, you reveal your own bias.

Tony Burman and the CBC News division are absolutely slanted against the president and against those who would support his position to disarm a threat to the world. As an example, Mr. Burman has, several times, refused to debate Norman Spector, noted UVIC professor and former Canadian ambassador to Israel on this issue of the ‘CBC’s bias’ that favors the Palestinian point of view only. I’m sorry, Mr. Burman has no ‘unbiased’ credibility with me and many other Canadians until he is willing to prove me wrong.

As for Shelley Saywell, implying that she cannot find a buyer for her doc in the U.S. because of its subject matter is unproven and a real stretch. Would you like to see a list of how many documentaries produced by Canadians are unsold in the U.S.? Were they all rejected because of politics? Get real!

If you do not believe that ABC News, The New York Times, The Washington Post and most of all mainstream press (with the exception of Fox and the New York Post) are not hostile or critical of this administration, then you really haven’t being paying attention.

I note that you don’t mention requiring a critical view of the information presented by the Iraqi government. Of course not – it’s only the Americans that lie – a typically Canadian view.
